Mr. Gerardo Hernandez was born and raised in the Fresno area. As a teenager, Mr. Hernandez’s family started a local supermarket that continues to serve the Fresno community to this day. Through his involvement with his family’s business, Mr. Hernandez recognized the need for quality legal assistance, particularly amongst Hispanic business owners. As such, Mr. Hernandez decided to attend law school in order to provide the legal assistance this business community so desperately needed.
After earning his B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Davis, Mr. Hernandez decided to attend Golden Gate University School of Law. During law school, Mr. Hernandez reached the Dean’s List each semester. Additionally, he participated in the Honors Lawyering program. Mr. Hernandez gained valuable legal experience at these internships which included civil discovery requests, general corporate compliance issues, mergers and acquisitions, and client management.
In his last year of law school, Mr. Hernandez gained an internship with Sverdlov & Zeltzer, a law firm in San Francisco, CA that primarily dealt with immigration law. During this internship, Mr. Hernandez helped clients navigate a number of immigration matters, including family based petitions, deportation defense, and asylum based applications. Additionally, he handled bankruptcy petitions and revised employment contracts for small start-up companies.
After law school, Mr. Hernandez worked for a large law firm in Fresno, California, LLP in the Civil Litigation Department. During his tenure, he specialized in defending business owners in labor and employment matters. Mr. Hernandez worked on wage and hour claims at both the State and Federal Level, union decertification petitions with the ALRB and NLRB, OSHA citation appeals, discrimination charges filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and unlawful labor practice charges against employers.
Mr. Hernandez joined Raimondo & Associates in June of 2014 to continue his practice of labor and employment law. He was extremely excited to join a firm that is just as passionate as he is about helping business owners during times of crisis. Mr. Hernandez greatly respects and admires business owners, particularly small business owners, because he has personally experienced the hard work and sacrifice that must be made to maintain a profitable business. For this reason, he greatly values and appreciates when a client entrusts the well-being of their company to him.
